Information Inflation

The rising cost of EBiz Info

Product Sourcing

Share

By: Chris Malta, CEO WorldwideBrands.com

You can put up a web site using Yahoo Store and start selling online for $49 bucks a month. You can start an EBay Account for free. So why are people spending tens of thousands of dollars to get their online businesses going?

Well, there’s information you need. SEO, Email List Building, Auction Selling, yadda yadda yadda badda bee. Everybody and their Grandmother’s Cat is out there telling you that THEY have the absolute best information for you, and it’s going to make you so rich so fast that your head will spin around twice and fall off.

The TRUTH is that only a very few people are selling REAL information.

The PROBLEM is that the people who sell JUNK information are way too good at marketing it, and there are a LOT of them.

The bad guys have everyone convinced, through years of plotting, planning, rubbing the heads of evil genie toads and practicing devious marketing, that good EBiz info has to cost at least five to ten thousand dollars. They have people believing that they have to sign three year contracts to start a Merchant Account. They have people convinced that they need to buy six web sites all at once, at a cost of thousands of dollars. They have people believing that EBiz “Coaching” costs at least ten thousand dollars, when all it really is, is a bunch of outdated Powerpoint presentations and a few short phone calls with people who can’t make their OWN EBiz work, so they sit at home and “Coach” other people while munching potato chips in their underwear.

Information Inflation is also caused by the fact that most Information Affiliates, who do the bulk of info sales online, will only use their evil genius to sell the products that pay them the most money. These particular marketers don’t care whether the info is any good; all they want are the payouts from the commissions. These “black hat” affiliates have come to expect massive commissions of thousands of dollars per sale, so the evil info guys simply raise their prices even higher to entice the evil affiliate guys to sell for them.

Virtually everyone I have talked to on this nine-week (so far!) tour of the US has fallen victim to at least one of these programs. Many have spent tens of thousands on several of them.

It costs $49 bucks to start a Yahoo Store, and an eBay Account is free. But you DO need good information. How do you decide whether it’s good or not?

You have to learn to carefully read up on what you plan to buy. Be absolutely sure to check Better business Bureau ratings. Be absolutely sure to type the name of the progam you’re looking at into Google, followed by the word “scam”. You’ll find out quickly whether what you’re considering spending thousands of dollars on is pro information, or a con.

The Worldwide Brands Yahoo! Story

Internet Malls have been a great way for businesses to get started selling online with very little up-front costs. When we started selling online we needed a reliable ecommerce solution to build our online stores, so we turned to Yahoo! Merchant Solutions to create our online stores. Yahoo! has a gallery of easy-to-use designs to choose from and this allowed us to create the look that we were going after. We were able to access our Yahoo! stores accounts from where ever we had an internet connection so we were able edit our stores’ and add products where ever, when ever. Yahoo! also provided us with Web Analytics for our stores so we were able to track all the details about the site trends, visits, and sales.
